The New York Rangers scored three unanswered goals in the final period for a 5-2 victory over their closest divisional rivals.
Michael Del Zotto, Brandon Dubinsky and Ruslan Fedotenko into an empty net broke open the game as the Rangers outshot the Philadelphia Flyers 10-8 in the third and 38-23 overall. Marian Gaborik scored his 26th of the year, beating Ilya Bryzgalov with a wrap around backhand from behind the net and then fed Del Zotto for the go-ahead score early in the third 36 seconds after Wayne Simmonds of the Flyers had scored his 17th of the year to tie the game at two apiece.
