Maple Leafs double up Oilers

Phil Kessel scored twice as the Toronto Maple Leafs cruised past the Edmonton Oilers 6-3 at the Air Canada Centre.
Kessel joined the Penguins Evgeni Malkin on 29 goals, five behind league leader Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning, hitting the go-ahead strike early in the second to break a two-all tie and then adding an empty netter with a little over a minute to go in regulation for the final margin of victory.
Jordan Eberle scored twice in defeat for Edmonton and was assisted on the opener by Sam Gagner who recorded a point for the fourth consecutive game.
The Maple Leafs are 301.00 to win the Eastern Conference, with the New York Rangers 1.71 and the Boston Bruins 251.00.
The Detroit Red Wings lost their second straight as the travelled to Phoenix to face the Coyotes and fell 3-1.
Boyd Gordon scored shorthanded at 7:22 of the first after the Red Wings had turned over the puck at the Phoenix blue line and Martin Hanzal added a second for his seventh of the year to double the lead.
Johan Franzen would pull one back for Detroit before Hanzal scored into an empty net after yet another Red Wing turnover.
Down in Anaheim the Ducks had to go to a shootout, but defeated the Calgary Flames 3-2 at the Honda Center. Niklas Hagman, the eighth Duck shooter in the extra time, finally secured the victory.
