Brady a painful miss for 49ers

In early 2000, just before the NFL draft Michigan quarterback Tom Brady went on the San Francisco radio station KNBR.
A star at local Junipero Serra High School in the Bay Area before heading to Ann Arbor, Brady spoke about how he hoped to be picked by his boyhood team the 49ers.
San Francisco did pick a quarterback in that draft, but it was Giovanni Carmazzi from Hofstra who the Niners took in the third round, the second quarterback selected that year.
The Patriots are 1.68 to win the Super Bowl, with the Giants 2.25, while Manning is 2.88 to be named MVP.
Carmazzi faded into well deserved obscurity within two years of being selected by San Francisco while three rounds later the New England Patriots selected Brady with the 199th pick in the draft.
What might have been for the San Francisco 49ers? Instead of a decade of struggling to replace Steve Young at quarterback, the Niners might instead of had three consecutive Hall of Fame QBs with Brady following Young and Brady's hero Joe Montana.
Today Brady looks to emulate Montana by winning his fourth Super Bowl. What might have been indeed?
