The Phoenix Suns went into Atlanta and surprised the high flying Hawks with a 99-90 win at the Philips Arena.
Steve Nash had 24 points and 11 assists to lead the way for Phoenix, who remain six games behind the Los Angeles Clippers in the Pacific division standings.
Situated between the Suns and the Clippers are the Los Angeles Lakers who were tripped up 95-90 by the Philadelphia 76ers.
Kobe Bryant had 28 points and passed former Laker Shaquille O'Neal for fifth place on the all-time career points list, trailing only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain.
Lou Williams led the 76ers with 24 points sending Philly to their second straight win.
The Suns are 7501.00 to win the Western Conference, with the Lakers 26.00 and the Clippers 251.00.
The New York Knicks overcame the absence of Amare Stoudemire, who was not with the club after the death of his brother, and Carmelo Anthony's strained right groin to knock off the Utah Jazz 99-88 at Madison Square Garden.
Anthony played just six minutes on the night and it was instead surprise starter Jeremy Linn who led the way hitting 10-of-17 for 28 points.
