Texas one win away
October 25, 2011 12:54:53 UK
The Texas Rangers moved to within a game of their first World Series as they doubled up the St Louis Cardinals 4-2.
Mike Napoli's two-run bases-loaded double in the eighth inning provided the margin of victory after Mitch Moreland and Adrian Beltre had tied the game with solo shots in the third and sixth.
Napoli also threw out Allen Craig twice on the base pads as the 29-year-old continued his break-out year after twice being traded in the off-season.
Free agent to be CJ Wilson, in possibly his last start for the Texas Rangers, allowed two runs, one of which was unearned on four hits and five walks while striking out five over 5 1-3 innings to keep the Rangers in the game early.
Darren Oliver (1-0) would eventually record the win and Neftali Feliz struck out two in the ninth for his second save of the World Series.
Texas are now 1.36 to win the World Series while the Cardinals can be backed at 3.25.
