Rangers close to World Series
October 13, 2011 14:32:59 UK
The Texas Rangers are one game away from a return to the World Series after a 7-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers.
Nelson Cruz's three run shot in the 11th inning highlighted a four run outburst as Texas moved to a 3-1 advantage in the best of seven series.
Scott Feldman (1-0) picked up the win and Neftali Feliz closed out the game in a non-save situation after Matt Harrison had started for the Rangers and allowed two runs on three hits and three walks over five innings.
Harrison departed with the lead only to see Alexi Ogando blow the save giving up a seventh inning home run to Brandon Inge.
Mike Adams would also give up a hit in his one inning of work as Texas held the Tigers to five hits on the evening.
Detroit starter Rick Porcello justified the decision by manager Jim Leyland to start him with 6 2-3 strong innings scattering eight hits and conceding three runs, one of which was unearned, while striking out six.
The Tigers are 1.64 to keep the series alive with a win in game five, while the Rangers are 2.40 to seal a 4-1 series victory and head to the World Series.
