Nelson Cruz hit a walk-off grand slam as the Texas Rangers took a 2-0 lead in their best of seven AL Championship Series against the Detroit Tigers.
Tied 3-3 in the bottom of the 11th inning, Michael Young, Adrian Beltre and Mike Napoli all singled to load the bases with no outs for Cruz to hit his second home run of the night in the 7-3 victory.
The Texas outfielder had also gone deep in the seventh to level the scoring after the Rangers two-run first had been countered by a Ryan Raburn three-run shot that had given Detroit a temporary advantage.
Scott Feldman pitched an effective 4 1-3 innings of relief for the defending American League Champions after starter Derek Holland left after 2 2-3 innings allowing three runs on four hits and four walks.
Mike Adams (1-0) picked up the win having pitched the top of the 11th. For the Tigers Max Scherzer struck out six over six innings giving up Cruz's first home run and five other hits.
Detroit are 301.00 to win the World Series while Texas can be backed at 1.80, St Louis Cardinals at 2.05 and the Milwaukee Brewers at 6.50.
