Andy Murray has declared himself fit as he prepares to compete for a first Grand Slam title at the US Open.
Murray is currently 10001.00 to win the US Open outright, with world number one Rafael Nadal 2.00 and number two Roger Federer 2.10.
In his last tournament, the Cincinnati Masters, Murray struggled in the fierce heat, losing to American Mardy Fish in the quarter-finals in a third-set tie-break.
But the world number four has suffered no long-term damage and is happy with his overall preparation for the year's final grand slam after beating Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in consecutive matches on the way to defending his Masters title in Toronto.
"I feel fine," Murray said in his pre-tournament press conference today. "I had a couple of days off after Cincinnati and then started training again on Monday.
"The weather wasn't good for a few days so I didn't hit that much. I feel fine physically."
Asked about the confidence boost he gained from such an impressive performance in Toronto, where he beat the world's top two ranked players without losing a set, the 23-year-old added: "It definitely helped, it was good for the confidence.
"I always enjoying playing here, New York is obviously a fun city to come to. I've been here a week now and I feel good."
Murray has been drawn against Slovakia's Lukas Lacko in the first round, with Wimbledon finalist Tomas Berdych a potential quarter-final opponent, Nadal a likely semi-final foe and Federer seeded to reach the final from the other half of the draw.
Match betting for his first round clash has Murray heavily fancied to proceed at 1.015, Lacko can be backed at 13.00 and it's 1.25 that Murray wins the match 3-0.
