Judd Trump managed to get the better of Ronnie O'Sullivan on Tuesday.Judd Trump secured a spot in the third round of the UK Championship in York with a thrilling 6-5 victory over Ronnie O'Sullivan.
Neither player appeared to be on top form, with both guilty of missing relatively easy shots on occasion. However, there were moments of brilliance from the two stars, with Trump the eventual winner in a topsy-turvy contest.
Trump admits he was not at his best after seeing off 'The Rocket' but the 22-year-old is confident he can improve as the tournament progresses. He is 1.50 to take the top prize.
"I think I got outplayed, my safety wasn't great and I let him in first in over half of the frames," Bristolian Trump said. "I got a little bit lucky to still be in the match but it's always nice to be in the last stages."
China's Ding Junhui secured a place in the third round with a 6-5 win over Matthew Stevens, Ding is 1213.00 to win the UK Championship for a third time.
Wednesday's second round action sees Ali Carter take on Mark Allen, while Marco Fu is up against Mark Selby, Mark Williams is in action against Martin Gould and Rickey Waldon faces Shaun Murphy.
