The world number six is 1213.00 to win next year's World Championship while Dott is at 1213.00.
Murphy, who took the fifth and final frame with a clearance of 139, had earlier beaten Stephen Hendry 5-1 in the semi-finals.
"I got better with each match through the tournament and played my best in the final," said the Englishman.
"It's a great opportunity we've been given, to go around the world playing the game we love.
"I'll have very fond memories of Brazil and I would love to see this become a regular event. The people here are very enthusiastic, they have enjoyed it and I think this is a market that can be expanded.
"This is a great time for snooker and it's very exciting to be part of it with so many new formats and new locations."
Dott had earlier beaten Peter Ebdon 5-2 in his semi-final but was not allowed to get into any sort of rhythm by a ruthless Murphy.
