Denton set for Calcutta Cup clash
January 31, 2012 14:57:57 UK
Scotland head coach Andy Robinson has handed David Denton his first start for his country ahead of their clash with England on Saturday.
The 21-year-old starts at No.8 for the clash at Murrayfield with the Scots at 2.20 to win, 21.00 to draw and 1.80 to lose the English in their opening Six Nations encounter.
Denton will be partnered by Al Strokosch and Ross Rennie in the back-row, who will be looking to make life difficult for a new-look England side in Edinburgh.
Dan Parks is set to make his 67th cap for Scotland at fly-half and he will be alongside Chris Cusiter who has been preferred at No.9.
Lee Jones is the only uncapped player to be named by Robinson in the starting XV, with Max Evans and Rory-Lamont to play on the wing and at full-back respectively.
It's a new-look partnership in the middle of the park, with Sean Lamont and Nick De Luca playing in the centres, with Graeme Morrison on the bench.
Scotland will be looking for revenge against the English following their defeat in the World Cup, whilst the men from south of the border will be hoping for their first win at Murrayfield since 2004.
