Warrington star Lee Briers in action.Warrington Wolves head coach Tony Smith has hailed the club's pre-season trip to Australia as a resounding success.
The Wolves recorded a 34-28 victory over Sydney City Rabbitohs on Saturday, and arrived back in the UK this morning ahead of Saturday's trip to face Hull FC in the opening round of Super League.
"This trip has been massive for the club, and it has exceeded all my expectations. The way the players have handled themselves has been unbelievably professional. It's exceeded anything I have been involved with before," said Smith.
"In terms of the professionalism and the application of the players, I couldn't have asked for more. The players who have toured have been outstanding representatives of this club and have done themselves proud both on the pitch and off it."
The Wolves will now turn their attentions to challenging for both major trophies in 2012.
They failed to make it three Challenge Cup victories in a row last season, and were eliminated from the play-offs at the semi-final stage, despite finishing top of the league at the end of the regular season. Warrington are 2.87 to secure their first ever Grand Final success in 2012, and 2.50 to finish as regular season winners for a second successive campaign.

Naturally, head coach Smith is keen for his men to make a strong start to league campaign, but admits that jet lag could still be an issue when they take on Hull just five days after landing on home soil.
He added: "We may be, or we may not be affected by the jet lag. We know what is in store for us when we get back home, but if we had an option we would do this trip again tomorrow. There has been some talk about doing it every two or three years."
