Vikings prepare for historic night

This Friday will be an historic day for Widnes Vikings. They face Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in the opening round of Super League, more than five years after their last match at the top level.
The Vikings won back their place amongst Rugby League's elite last year, when their bid for a Super League license was accepted by the RFL.
And since being given the green light, head coach Denis Betts and director of rugby Paul Cullen have worked tirelessly towards assembling a team capable of competing with the best in the land.

We know that Wakefield will be coming to spoil the party, and their coach has put a very good squad together. Either way, I think it is going to be one of those nights when all Rugby League supporters should try to be there.

"You have to give a massive amount of credit to the chairman Steve O'Connor for everything that has happened at this club since he took over. Everything he has done has been positive, making the club a better place to be, and helping Widnes as a community," said Betts.
"That was the main reason I joined Widnes, because Steve is so determined to do the best both for the town and the club. It's now up to me as a coach, the staff here, and the players to replicate that determination on the field when the season kicks off."
The Wildcats themselves will be keen to prove a point. New head coach Richard Agar has assembled an almost entirely brand new squad, who will be eager to lay down a marker of their own early in the season.
He added: "We know that Wakefield will be coming to spoil the party, and their coach has put a very good squad together. Either way, I think it is going to be one of those nights when all Rugby League supporters should try to be there."
Widnes are priced at 1.80 to secure a win over Wakefield on their return to the Super League, while the Wildcats can be backed at 2.00 and the draw is available at 19.00.
