Faiumu happy to take new role

Despite having spent most of his Huddersfield Giants career playing in the hooking role, David Faiumu says he is anticipating a switch into the second row in 2012.
The Giants have signed hooker Tommy Lee from Wakefield for the new season, while current squad members Shaun Lunt and Luke Robinson are also equally adept in the position.

I can't wait for it all to begin again.

Faiumu says he would have no qualms about making the switch if it helps secure him a place in the team.
"I'll probably be playing in the back row this season because obviously we've got an abundance of talent at hooker, including Tommy, who I've really been impressed with. But if the coach needs me to fill in anywhere I'll happily play any position in the team," said the Kiwi, who is nearing a return to full fitness after undergoing close-season shoulder surgery.
"I can't wait for it all to begin again. I get that feeling before every season where you just want it all to hurry on, get out there, and start playing with the boys again. Hopefully I'll be able to take my place in the team soon.
"I won't be fully up to speed for the first few games because I've got to get my match fitness up. But that's no excuse for me and the team to have a poor start to the season. You've got to be up there and maintain form throughout the season."
The Giants face Wigan Warriors this Saturday and will be eager for a strong start to the season following last year's fourth-placed finish and early exit from the play-offs.
They can be backed at 17.00 to win the Grand Final this season and 8.00 to claim the Challenge Cup. They are also available at 15.00 to finish at the top of the regular season standings this year.
