Karun Chandhok has accepted that he will be having a test driver role next season rather than enjoying a race seat.
The 27-year-old Indian driver acted as Team Lotus' test and reserve driver in 2011, although he did take part in the German Grand Prix when he replaced Jarno Trulli and finished in 20th position.

I am mentally preparing myself to continue as a test driver for another season.

In 2010, Chandhok represented Hispania Racing in the first ten races of the season, with his best finishes coming in Australia and Monaco where he finished 14th.

Every team has now confirmed their driver line-ups for 2012, apart from Williams and HRT, but Chandhok does not anticipate filling either of those spots.
He said: "I am mentally preparing myself to continue as a test driver for another season.
"As of now, most of the teams have announced their list of drivers for the 2012 season. There are only two slots up for grabs - one with the Williams and other with the HRT.
"The situation is a bit difficult but I am ready to work hard. The F1 teams are also looking at drivers who can essentially bring them good sponsorship money so it's a tough situation."
The latest betting for the 2012 drivers' title has Sebastian Vettel at 3.75, while Jenson Button can be backed at 8.00, Fernando Alonso at 4.50 and Lewis Hamilton at 3.75.
