Vargas opts for Napoli

The agent of record-breaking Chilean goalscorer Eduardo Vargas says he chose a move to Napoli over Chelsea as "the best solution" for the brilliant young striker.
And he has even claimed that he was the driving force behind the career direction his young client should take. Vargas had been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge but his agent, Cristian Ogalde, has indicated that a move to the Premier League was not the player's best option.

We certainly would have got a higher wage if he'd gone to Chelsea, but Napoli was the best solution for everyone.

Vargas had an amazing 2011, including a record-breaking 11 goals in the Copa Sudamericana, which was won by his former club Universidad de Chile.
That put him very much on Chelsea's radar and it was something of a surprise when he opted instead for Napoli.

Vargas' agent has indicated that he will only improve and develop in Serie A and suggested that a move to the Blues may have been premature.
He said: "An agent must know what the best destination for his client is. The choice must not be dictated only by economic reasons or the club's coat of arms but also by the possibility to grow and show qualities.
"The interest of Chelsea? We would have been proud of his move to the Blues and we certainly would have got a higher wage, but Napoli was the best solution for everyone.
"The club were determined and showed us that they strongly believe in the potential of the boy."
