Davis hopeful of Jelavic stay

Steven Davis says Rangers must do all they can to keep hold of Nikica Jelavic after the striker scored both his side's goals in Saturday's win over St Johnstone.
Nikica Jelavic was back to his best on Saturday. The Croatian has been heavily linked with a move to England this month, but manager Ally McCoist revealed last week the club have not received any bids for the player during the transfer window.
And Rangers captain Davis says his performance at McDiarmid Park underlined why the SPL champions need to retain his services.
"There's been a lot written in terms of what he wants to do but he showed he's got a desire to still do well for Rangers so hopefully the club can keep hold of him," said Davis.
"There has been a lot written in the press saying he wants to move on but he always works hard for the team and it was good to see him get his rewards again for the effort he puts in."

He (Nikica Jelavic) showed he's got a desire to still do well for Rangers so hopefully the club can keep hold of him.

The win saw Rangers retake top spot in the SPL table before Celtic overtook them once more after defeating Dundee United. McCoist's side are now 11.00 to win the league while the Hoops are at 1.04.
Davis added: "A couple of times we came up short in the five or six weeks before Christmas and it was important to bounce back after the Celtic game and try to go on another run of results.
"We have managed to do that so far but we won't be getting carried away as there is still a lot of hard work ahead. Celtic are still going well as well."
Rangers face Aberdeen at Ibrox next weekend and are 8.50 to win 3-0.
