Preston North End have parted company with manager Phil Brown, with the Lilywhites currently in mid-table in League One.
Phil Brown has been axed as Preston manager after a poor run of form.Brown took charge at Deepdale in January, but was unable to guide his side to safety in the Championship, while this term they have so far failed to mount a promotion challenge.
Preston have won just once in their last 11 league games and are 1213.00 to be promoted this season, with a goalless draw at home to Stevenage proving to be Brown's final game in charge.
Brown had previously been in charge at Derby County for a mere seven months, before a three-and-a-half year stint at the helm of Hull City, who he led to the top-flight for the first time in their history.
A statement from newly-installed North End chairman Peter Ridsdale confirmed: "Following relegation we had hoped that we would be in a position to compete for an immediate return to the Championship.
"But after a promising start we have only won one of our last 11 league games and we are out of all three cup competitions."
Next up for Preston is a tough trip to third-placed MK Dons on Saturday, with the hosts 1.66 to win the game and 8.50 to secure a 2-0 victory.
