Manchester City have been hit by the news that Vincent Kompany will serve a four-match ban after the Football Association rejected their appeal against his sending off against Manchester United.
Roberto Mancini has been hit by the news of Vincent Kompany's failed appeal.City boss Roberto Mancini was adamant that they had a strong case to overturn the red card Kompany picked up from referee Chris Foy for a two-footed tackle on United's Nani during the side's 3-2 FA Cup third round derby defeat at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
However, the FA upheld the red card which means Kompany will miss Wednesday night's Carling Cup semi-final first leg clash with Liverpool, which City are 2.10 to win, with the Reds 3.75 to come out on top and the draw is 3.25.
The Belgium international will also miss the return leg at Anfield in a fortnight, plus the Premier League encounters with Wigan and Tottenham in between.

"Kompany will serve a four-match suspension with immediate effect.
"The suspension consists of a statutory three-match suspension for Serious Foul Play plus one additional game given this is Kompany's second dismissal of the season."
