Blackburn manager Steve Kean singled out Gael Givet for special praise after the defender's injury-time header ensured a Carling Cup victory over Newcastle.
Steve Kean was relieved to make it into the last eight.Rovers eventually triumphed 4-3 on Wednesday after seeming on course for a relatively comfortable victory when 2-0 up in the second half thanks to Ruben Rochina and a Yakubu penalty. However, Danny Guthrie and Yohan Cabaye struck in injury time for Newcastle and it seemed Blackburn were on course for another loss.
They went ahead again through Morten Gamst Pederson's free-kick before Peter Lovenkrands' penalty levelled things up, and just when spot-kicks seemed a certainty, Givet's header saw Kean's side into the draw for the last eight.
Blackburn are now 1213.00 to lift the Carling Cup but are 1.001 to be relegated from the Premier League. They can be backed at 17.00 to finish bottom of the league.

Gael Givet encapsulates the whole spirit we have got here.
Steve Kean
"Gael Givet encapsulates the whole spirit we have got here - he had a hamstring nick but would not come off. He's a warrior, he has put his head where other people wouldn't put their feet. He was fantastic," Kean enthused.
"It's tough mentally when they scored so late to go and score again but we did it.
"We are always going to score goals but we have been working day in, day out defensively so that when we lose possession we get a good shape."
