Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that the last-gasp defeat to Birmingham City in last season's Carling Cup final will hurt him forever.
Arsene Wenger still hurts from last season's Carling Cup final defeat. The Gunners had hoped to lift their first trophy since the 2005 FA Cup, but were undone by Obafemi Martins' tap-in in the dying seconds at Wembley.
That blow left Wenger and most of his players devastated, with the Frenchman admitting that that 2-1 loss still haunts him, as he prepares for the fourth round clash with Bolton Wanderers.
Wenger commented: "It will hurt me forever because we never forget disappointments. That's part of life at a managerial level.
"People forget that we did fight very hard to get there and overall we produced great performances in the Carling Cup last year."
The Gunners are 1.57 to beat the Trotters at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening and are 8.50 to win by a 2-0 scoreline, while Wenger's side are 1213.00 to go on and win the competition.

The Arsenal boss is also pleased with the hunger being shown by his side, who have improved over the past few weeks.
He added: "There is hunger in this team no matter what competition. We want to do well in the Carling Cup, the league, the Champions League, in every single competition.
"I don't question the hunger of my team, they have an exceptional attitude."
