Dane Michael Laudrup has resigned as coach of La Liga outfit Real Mallorca, following a deterioration in relations with club owner Lorenzo Serra Ferrer.

I had long been thinking about this, but I could not do it with the team in a bad situation.

Laudrup's number two Erik Larsen had been sacked on Monday after making critical statements about Serra Ferrer and his fellow Dane has now decided to follow him out of the club.
Laudrup took charge of Mallorca in the summer of 2010, having previously coached in Spain with Getafe, while during his playing career, the gifted forward enjoyed spells with both Barcelona and Real Madrid.
"Why go now that you've won a game and you're in the middle of the table?" Laudrup told a hastily-convened press conference.
"I had long been thinking about this, but I could not do it with the team in a bad situation. Now I can quit (with the team) being in the middle of the standings."
Mallorca currently lie 11th in the Primera Liga standings, having ended a run of three straight defeats with a 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad last weekend.
Next up for the Islanders is a trip to Pamplona to take on Osasuna on Saturday 1st October, with the hosts 1.90 to win the game and Mallorca 4.00 to secure another victory.
