Van Gaal sacked by Bayern

Bayern Munich have sacked their coach Louis van Gaal, following their departure from the Champions League and a slip in the German Bundesliga.
Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben, whose side are now fourth in the Bundesliga.The Dutch coach was due to leave the club at the end of the season but that has now been brought forward following what the board has described as a move in the club's "best interests".
A club statement read: "The board, director of sport and president of FC Bayern took this decision together.
"After the 1-1 draw in Nurnberg yesterday and the renewed slide to fourth in the table, and with the threat of missing out on the minimum aim of a place in the Champions League next season, this decision was taken in FC Bayern's best interests.
"Louis van Gaal's assistants Frans Hoek, Jos van Dijk and Max Reckers have also been relieved of their duties."
Asssitant coach Andries Jonker has now been placed in charge of the German side until the end of the season on a caretaker basis, when Jupp Heynckes will succeed him as the club's new permanent boss.
Germany are 4.00 to win next year's Euro 2012, while van Gaal's home nation, Holland, are 7.50 to triumph.
