Schalke 04 have confirmed the shock resignation of Ralf Rangnick as manager due to exhaustion.
Ralf Rangnick has decided to take a break from football.Rangnick replaced Felix Magath at the Bundesliga club in March and enjoyed some success, leading the club to the Champions League semi-finals and a German Cup win. However, it seems the pressure of the role has caught up with the 53-year-old.
"After a long and mature consideration I decided that I needed a break," Rangnick told the club's official website.
"This decision is very hard but my current energy level is not sufficient to be successful and especially to further develop the team."
The club are currently ninth in the league after three wins and three losses and can be backed at 151.00 to win the Bundesliga. Bayern Munich are 101.00 and Dortmund are 1.001.

"His decision deserves respect," added Schalke sports director Horst Heldt.
"We also believe that health should be put above any professional targets and challenges."
The club has not yet decided on a successor and assistant coach Seppo Eickorn will in charge of this weekend's game against Freiburg.
