Bayern Munich's in-form striker Mario Gomez says he would like to extend his contract with the Bavarian giants beyond the end of next season.
Striker Mario Gomez would like to extend his contract with Bayern Munich. The 26-year-old Germany international netted 28 Bundesliga goals last season to top the charts in Germany, while this term he has opened up with eight goals in five games.
That includes a hat-trick in the 3-0 win at Kaiserslautern and four in a 7-0 thrashing of Freiburg, with Gomez 3.25 to be the Bundesliga's top marksman again.
Gomez's current deal runs out in the summer of 2013, but the former Stuttgart man would love to extend his stay further, telling Bild: "Why should I seek a change or not extend my contract when things are going so well.
"I feel very well here, I can imagine staying on beyond 2013. I do not know when contract talks are planned for, but I am open to them."
Meanwhile, Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has played down the hostile reception he received at former club Schalke during his current employers' 2-0 weekend victory.
The Germany international stated: "I did know I would not be getting a very warm welcome. I had got myself prepared for this.
"Winning the match was of the utmost importance to me. I don't care if some people are feeling offended because of that."
Bayern are 101.00 to win back the German title this season, with Borussia Dortmund 1.001 to retain their crown.
