Bayer Leverkusen have dismissed rumours linking them with Manchester United's former Bulgarian international striker Dimitar Berbatov.
It had been reported that the former Tottenham star had flown to Germany earlier this week, which led to speculation linking him with Leverkusen and Bayern Munich.

Bayer, who sold Berbatov to Tottenham in July 2006 for £10.9million, have moved quickly to quash the rumours, with club executive Wolfgang Holzhauser saying: "I have been reading that Dimitar (Berbatov) would have flown over to Frankfurt and that we would be in for him there to negotiate a transfer. That was interesting news to me.
"I am clearly out to never say never, but this is nothing we are looking forward to at this point in time and from today's point of view I would also say we are not after him in the coming summer."

This is nothing we are looking forward to at this point in time.

Bayer are 1213.00 to win the Bundesliga title this season while Bayern Munich can be backed at 101.00 and Borussia Dortmund at 1.001.
Russian sides Anzhi Makhachkala and CSKA Moscow have also been linked with Berbatov who has been used sparingly by Sir Alex Ferguson this season.
The 30-year-old scored six goals in three Premier League appearances during the festive period, including a hat-trick in the 5-0 Boxing Day demolition of Wigan Athletic, but has not featured in the first team since the 3-0 defeat at Newcastle United more than a fortnight ago.
He has found the net 48 times in 105 Premier League appearances for United following his £30.5million transfer to Old Trafford from Spurs in August 2008.
