Thwaite urges clarity on future

Gold Coast United captain Michael Thwaite was the happiest man inside Aurora Stadium on Wednesday due to the fact that he had scored his first ever professional goal.

My loyalties definitely lie with Gold Coast United.

But the goal came as a late equaliser for his struggling club against his former employers and that made the strike even sweeter for the GCU defender.
Luck has clearly not been on Gold Coast's side this season. They have had more than their share of dubious decisions, injuries, suspensions and internal rifts, which is why their players are trying to cling on even the smallest bits of positives.
Perth Glory are 1.72 to defeat Gold Coast United, who themselves are 4.50 to get the win.
They still occupy the dreaded wooden spoon spot on the A-League table but they are hell-bent on fighting in every game, even if they do not make the finals this season.

Thwaite has been the leader of the club in this difficult season. The towering centre-half is in love with the area and the club but the management's reluctance on handing him a new deal means that this could be his last season on Gold Strip.
Speaking in an interview with Sportal, Thwaite said: "You can see that in how I play and my attitude every game.
"It's been like that for the last three years at the club. My loyalties definitely lie with Gold Coast United, but until there's something on paper I can't really commit myself to staying here."
"I've spoken with Miron about what Clive Palmer's ideas are but it's all verbal. But that's how any negotiation starts.
"Obviously you don't put it down on paper straight away, there's a discussion first and that goes across the board with all A-League clubs," he added.
