Panesar lifts gritty England

England are in pole position to level the three-match series against Pakistan after having the better of the third day of the second Test.
Monty Panesar took three quick wickets for England.Stuart Broad and Monty Panesar were England's stars, the former making an unbeaten 58 to lift the tourists to a first-innings total of 327, a lead of 70.
Panesar then took 3-44 as Pakistan closed the day on 125-4 in their second innings, although they were given some hope by a stubborn late stand between Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq.
Pakistan, who lead the series 1-0 after winning the first Test by ten wickets, are 1.001 to claim victory in the second Test while England can be backed at 1.001. The draw is available at 1.001.

Broad and James Anderson failed to make an early breakthrough at the start of Pakistan's second innings, but England began to get on top once the spin pairing of Panesar and Graeme Swann got hold of the ball.
Panesar entered the attack in the sixth over and was an immediate success. Mohammad Hafeez was lbw pushing forward to an arm ball from the left-arm spinner before Swann bowled Taufeeq Umar between bat and pad.
Panesar then dismissed Younis Khan when his ball hit the off stump before, in the first over after tea, captain Misbah-ul-Haq was out lbw to Panesar.
Shafiq and Ali then put together an unbroken stand of 71 for the fifth wicket to frustrate England and keep Pakistan in the match.
