Broad and Trott rescue England

Stuart Broad's maiden Test century helped to get England out of jail sharing a record 244 eight-wicket stand with Jonathan Trott as the hosts closed day one 346-7.
Broad ended play on 125 not out to become only the third Englishman to make a Test hundred from number nine, as he and Jonathan Trott (149no) saved England, who were 102-7 when their partnership started.
The Nottinghamshire seamer is now determined not to let their hard work go to waste as England look to wrap up the Test series against Pakistan.
Pakistan need to win the final Test to square the series but now have a mountain to climb as Broad and Trott made a mockery of their early high hopes when England were 47-5.
"They knew they obviously had us in trouble, and in the end they're probably a little bit disappointed with their day - because they would have been looking to knock us over," said Broad.
"But we're certainly not ahead in this game just yet. We need to make sure we get some good runs in the morning."
Broad is confident too that, despite four English ducks - including from numbers four, five and six in the order - there is no reason to worry about the batting failures.
"There have been moments of magical bowling in this series.
"Aamer this morning was splendid. Some of those deliveries he bowled to the left-handers were brilliant.
"I don't think anyone in the England camp is particularly worried about the lack of runs in the middle order, because we know they're all world-class players - and it doesn't affect anything for the Ashes.
"They have been tricky batting conditions, and unfortunately a couple of them haven't scored runs."
Aamer reflected on his mixed day with appropriately mixed feelings.
"It was special - the first time I've got six wickets and best of figures of my career," said the 18-year-old left-armer.
"I am happy but I am a little bit sad. They are in a good position.
"We were in a good position, but now we are on the back foot."
