Marsh stars with bat for WA

After making 79 against Queensland in a Sheffield Shield match, Western Australia batsman Shaun Marsh said that it felt great to finally get some runs under his belt.

It was just good to get out there and have a lot of fun and it was nice to spend a bit of time in the middle.

Marsh endured a horrific summer at international level with Australia, for whom he managed to score just 17 runs in four test matches against India.
His history of recent failures meant that when he went out to bat for his state side at the Gabba, there was quite a bit of pressure on him to deliver.
The start to his innings was certainly rough and he survived several out-swinging deliveries, lbw appeals and was lucky to have his catch dropped down when he was batting at 34.
But once he got past that rocky phase, he reminded just why Australian selectors kept on picking him for the national side despite his struggles.
At the end of the day's play, Marsh said: "I was pretty nervous leading up to the game. I guess getting out there and getting through the first 20 balls, which I haven't been able to do, was good.
"I knew if I could do that I could get myself away, and it was good to contribute to the team.
"I was a bit tentative, but I thought once I get through this I'm away here. I was nicking (the close ones) during the Test series. It was just good to get out there and have a lot of fun and it was nice to spend a bit of time in the middle."
Tasmania are 1.90 to win the 50-over Ryobi Cup, with South Australia 1.90 and Queensland 1213.00.
