Juan Manuel Marquez insisted he had been robbed of victory after Manny Pacquiao retained his WBO welterweight title in controversial fashion.
Two of the three judges handed the fight to Manny Pacquiao. After the 12th round, both boxers acted as though they had won the bout in Las Vegas, but two of the three judges ruled in Pacquiao's favour while the third said it was a draw.
Pacquiao got the nod from Dave Moretti (115-113) and Glenn Trowbridge (116-112) while Robert Hoyle had it down as a 114-114 tie.
When the result was announced, cans and bottles rained down on the ring, with the majority of the crowd convinced Marquez had edged the fight.
It was a repeat of another controversial contest between the two men in 2008 that was also given to Pacquiao and, referring back to that encounter, the 38-year-old Marquez said: "This was the second robbery and this one was the worst. We won with clearer punches.
"It's hard when you're fighting your rival and the three judges too."
