Manny Pacquiao could be set to face Floyd Mayweather Jr on 5th May.Floyd Mayweather Jr has thrown down the gauntlet and challenged Manny Pacquiao to a showdown on 5th May.
The duo, regarded by many as the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, have been unable to agree terms for some time but Mayweather has now confirmed he is willing to thrash out a deal that could see the pair meet later this year.
It had been suggested that Mayweather's 90-day jail sentence could end any hopes of a mega-fight between the unbeaten American and the Filipino sensation. However, a judge has now declared that Mayweather could serve his time from 1st June, which means the fight can go ahead.

Manny Pacquiao I'm calling you out let's fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see.

Mayweather used his Twitter account to challenge Pacquiao, tweeting: "Manny Pacquiao, I'm calling you out let's fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see.
"My Jail Sentence [sic] was pushed back because the date was locked in. Step up Punk."
If the pair can agree terms, the contest could become the first ever $100million bout in history.
2012 could well be a vintage year for boxing if the fight goes ahead. There is also the possibility that David Haye could step out of retirement if he is handed a chance to take on either Wladimir Klitschko, who secured a points win over Haye in 2011, or his brother Vitali.
Vitali Klitshcko is eager to take on Haye at some point in 2012 but the Ukrainian WBC heavyweight title holder must first get past Dereck Chisora on 18th February. Klitshcko is 1.071 to secure the win, while Chisora is 9.00 to produce a huge shock and emerge victorious.
