Khan-Peterson rematch moves closer

The WBA has ordered a rematch between Amir Khan and Lamont Peterson following their controversial bout in December.
Amir Khan's team have campaigned for a rematch against Lamont Peterson.Peterson won Khan's WBA and IBF titles on a split decision in Washington but questions were immediately asked about the points docked for pushing by Khan and the actions of a so-called 'mystery man' at ringside. The British boxer's promotional team Golden Boy appealed against the decision and the WBA have now taken the first step towards a rematch. The IBF are due to meet next week to make their decision.
"I can confirm there we have ordered a direct rematch. We will issue a press release very soon," revealed WBA vice president Gilberto Jesus Mendoza.
Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy says Khan's camp are thrilled they can now start negotiations to get the fight organised. Should it go ahead, Khan is 1.20 to win the bout, while Peterson can be backed at 4.50. A draw or technical draw is available at 29.00.

The rematch will be one of the most anticipated fights of 2012.
Richard Schaefer
"Amir and Lamont are both terrific young men and athletes who fought their hearts out in Washington in December and I'm sure this decision will get applause by fight fans around the world," he told ESPN.
"The rematch will be one of the most anticipated fights of 2012 because both guys are exciting, young and I think it's exactly the kind of fight people want to see."
