Amir Khan (left) still hopes to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr in the future.Amir Khan hopes that his defeat to Lamont Peterson in Washington DC on Saturday will make him a better boxer.
The 25-year-old was surprisingly beaten by the American as he lost his WBA and IBF light-welterweight belts, but said after the fight that he thought he had deserved to win the bout.
Both Khan and Peterson seem keen for a rematch even though the British boxer says he was "treated unfairly" during the bout and was "fighting two people".

This is only going to make me more mature, and make me a better fighter. It's perfect, everything happens for a reason.

Khan said: "Maybe making me wait that couple more months will give me one more fight at 140lbs [light-weltweweight] and then I'll move up to 147 [welterweight], take one fight at that weight.
"Instead of taking that fight with Mayweather in 2012, 2013 is going to be perfect. This is only going to make me more mature, and make me a better fighter. It's perfect, everything happens for a reason."

Khan will formally question the performance of referee Joseph Cooper as well as the judges' scoring.
Two points deducted from Khan by Cooper for pushing proved crucial, with the judges scoring the fight 113-112, 113-112, 111-114 in Peterson's favour.
This weekend Andre Ward takes on Carl Froch. Ward is 1.40 to win the fight while Froch can be backed at 3.00 to emerge victorious.
