George Groves has been forced to withdraw from his title defence fight on 9th December after injuring his hand in training.
George Groves has enjoyed a successful 2011 until now.The British and Commonwealth super-middleweight champion had been lined up against an as-yet unnamed opponent at the Liverpool Echo Arena but the event will now be headlined by James DeGale, who is taking on Jose Maria Guerrero.
"I'm really gutted as I was coming along nicely in training and on course for the fight in a couple of weeks' time," said the 23-year-old.
"The injury is a setback and I really wanted to end the year with four good wins.
"I'm sorry that my fans won't be able to see me in action, but I'll back early next year and ready to kick off 2012 with a bang as I continue towards further titles."

Groves saw off Paul Smith in two rounds at Wembley Arena earlier this month and also includes a win over DeGale in an unbeaten run of 14 fights. His manager and trainer Adam Booth was disappointed to have to withdraw but said it was the only option for his charge.
"At this stage of George's career it would be crazy to compromise him and carry an injury of that nature into the fight," he said.
"He's been advised to rest it for now and we'll seek further medical guidance next week."
Meanwhile, Amir Khan is 1.083 to defeat Lamont Peterson, who can be backed at 8.00. A win for Khan in the second round is available at 19.00.
