Amir Khan is being tipped to eventually become the world's best pound-for-pound boxer by promoter and former 10-time world title holder Oscar de La Hoya.

The bold claim was made as Khan is gearing up for this Saturday's 'dangerous' showdown against Lamont Peterson in his opponent's home town of Washington DC. The Bolton man is 1.083 to win, while the American is 8.00 to come out on top in the WBA and IBF light-welterweight title fight.

De La Hoya said: "Amir's definitely up there in pound-for-pound terms. You can make that argument for him to become the best fighter in the world.
