Ricky Burns produced an impressive display at Wembley Arena to defeat Michael Katsidis on points and claim the interim WBO lightweight title.
Ricky Burns looks set for further glory. The Scot, in his first fight at lightweight after giving up his WBO super-featherweight title, won a unanimous points decision.
Katsidis was the favourite to win the bout with a 28-4 (23 KO's) record ahead of the fight but Burns tactically and technically outfought him as he continues his impressive run of form, and will now be aiming for another world title.
The 28-year-old Burns remained calm throughout, demoralising Katsidis who punched desperately in the final round but to no avail.
"I treat every fight the same," said Burns. "It's my job and that's how I see it.
"I'm not scared of getting beaten because a loss is not the end of the world, so I'm willing to fight anyone.
"It's about putting on a show and we did that tonight."
Frank Warren, Burns' promoter, has hinted the Scot's next fight will take place in Glasgow.
Meanwhile, Tyson Fury is 1.062 to defeat Neven Pajkic next Saturday. Pajkic can be backed at 8.00.
